Backed by Newton's Laws of Motion and applied research from the sport and MSK world. No pseudobiomechanical reasoning here!

Biomechanics has gotten a bad name in the MSK world over the past few years as its ties with chronic pain and disability are tenuous to say the least. This has led many to believe that biomechanics don't really matter. This is not the case as Jeff will argue throughout the course; if we are providing rehabilitation to help people build back up to their pre-injury levels then biomechanics are definitely important and can provide a clinical compass to direct rehabilitation decisions. Especially in the era of biomechanical testing, understand what you want to actually test is of paramount importance! No prior biomechanical knowledge is required for this course, and all information is specifically tailored for MSK clinicians, by an MSK clinician!

About the Course

The Force Awakens is specifically designed for MSK rehab professionals, S+C practitioners and personal trainers who work with patients on their journey back from injury or surgery. Whilst underlying physics principles are a mandatory consideration, a key strength of this course is focusing on only the information that clinicians need to know day to day. No complicated equations or trigonometry! Crucially, a large part of the course is focused on movement science, namely 'Ecological Dynamics', in order to understand why our patients move in the way they do, even when it's not 'biomechanically efficient', as this is a crucial consideration. There's no point learning about the biomechanics how we move without understanding what drives that, and how we can use this information clinically. Please see below for the full course breakdown.

Meet Your Instructor

Jeff works as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner for lower limb conditions within the NHS, UK. This work requires him to lead triage clinics, work alongside orthopaedic consultants and work with patients who suffer with complex musculoskeletal pathologies. He has over a decade of experience as a physiotherapist and completed a Masters by Research (MRes) investigating the recovery of quadriceps strength post ACL reconstruction. Additionally, he has been awarded a Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine from the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine, UK. For the past few years, he has been teaching in areas relating to lower limb pathology and biomechanics. This is where his true passion lies and his motivation for creating 'The Force Awakens' is to help fellow MSK clinicians on their journey to enriching their practice with biomechanics, without as many headaches or mistakes along the way as himself!
